OVERVIEW

Our 300-hour Vinyasa Flow Advanced Yoga Teacher Training course is an intensive program designed to deepen your already existing knowledge and foundations of yoga. The primary focus of this course is on sequencing Vinyasa Flow style yoga classes. Major attention is given to the principles, technical aspects, and structural components of a Vinyasa Flow class.  Much of your time will be spent on expanding your knowledge of asanas while paying attention to the key alignments and anatomical structures in order to deepen your own practice as well as learning how to teach others safely. In addition, you will gain in-depth knowledge of pranayama, meditation and philosophy.

Sampoorna Yoga Costa Rica offers an innovative in-person/online modality which allows you to get the best out of our signature YTTC.

HYBRID METHODOLOGY (Combination of our In-Person Course and our Online YTTC)

In this format, as soon as you sign up for the course, you will start learning from the comfort of your home. You’ll have lifetime access to the Online Module, so you can study and practice at your own rhythm and pace!

Soon after, you will join our senior lead teachers in a 13-day in-person experience to clarify doubts, advance in your practice, share with like-minded yogi fellow students, improve your teaching skills and craft the art of hands-on adjustments while indulging in tropical nature!

I. ONLINE MODULE

In the moment you sign up for our 300-hr Vinyasa Flow Advanced Yoga Teacher Training Course at Costa Rica, you will get access to our online platform. This online platform contains all the resources you need to continue your journey of becoming a well-rounded yoga teacher.

You will study and practice at your own rhythm and pace, take notes and write down your questions and doubts to clarify them with your teachers in the in-person module. Remember: you’ll have access to this platform for life, so you can continue watching the videos, studying and practicing even after you’ve attended the In-person Module.

II. IN-PERSON MODULE

This 13-day module will take place in our venue in Costa Rica according to the date you have chosen. (See dates here)

Over the course of two weeks, you will practice and study with our senior lead teachers and fellow students from different walks of life.

This module is the practical portion of our hybrid 300-hr Vinyasa Flow Advanced Yoga Teacher Training Course. Your days will be filled with asana practice, workshops, Q&A sessions, teaching practice, hands-on adjustments workshops, posture clinics and much more.

CERTIFICATION

In order to receive your certificate as 300-hr yoga teacher, you need to complete the following requisites:

  • Obtain minimum 90% in your theory exam (*)
  • 100% attendance to the in-person module
  • Obtain minimum 22 points out of 35 in your practical exam (**)

(*) Available on the online platform. (You will have up to ONE year to complete the theory exam -from the start date of your course, which means that you can take this exam either before or after attending the in-person module. In case you take the theory exam after the in-person module, you will receive your certificate by email once all requisites have been met.)

(**) It will be completed at the end of the in-person module.

This certificate is recognized by Yoga Alliance USA, and you will be eligible to register with them as RYT-500.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE IN-PERSON MODULE?

  • To make the most of the second part of your YTTC, we advise you to:
  • Watch as many videos/lectures of the online module as possible. (Ideally -but not necessarily-, you may finish this module and take the theory exam before attending the In-person Module; otherwise, you can complete the Online Module and take the theory exam whenever you feel ready)
  • Make notes, write down your questions and doubts
  • Practice intermediate-advanced Vinyasa Flows -at least- 3 times a week.
  • Print and bring the Student Manual, Study Guide (all provided in the Online Module), and any other resource you think you may need. This is completely optional, but take into account that we won’t provide any printed material during the In-person Module.
  • Take enough comfortable and appropriate yoga clothes. (You may change clothes a few times a day).
  • We will provide yoga mats and all the props you may need during your course, but if you want to bring your own yoga mat is totally up to you.

THE CURRICULUM

This course places major emphasis on Vinyasa yoga practice, and Vinyasa Flow sequencing principles. The philosophy section will cover introduction and history of yoga, Upanishads and Darshanas with more emphasis on Bhagavad Gita.  You will study and practice pranayama, neurophysiology of meditation, chakras, mantras and tantric meditation, use of mudras and bandhas in meditation and yoga Nidra. The anatomical highlight will be on revising the human body systems, and studying some common health conditions.

  • Sequencing workshops that include understanding the asana families, principles of sequencing, anatomical sequencing, theming your yoga class, adapting your yoga sequences.
  • Alignment/adjustment/teaching techniques workshops.
  • Modifications, and advance variations of numerous postures.
  • Use of props such as blocks, bolsters, straps, blankets, and walls in your yoga practice.
  • Teaching Methods.
  • Principles of demonstration.
  • Instructions, guidelines, teaching styles, qualities of a teacher.
  • Voice projection, and floor presence.
  • Planning and structuring a class.
  • Alignment and hands-on-adjustments.
  • Dealing with injuries and safety precautions.
  • Class management and adaptation.
  • Teaching beginners.
  • Teaching corporate yoga.

You will learn and practice different breathing and meditation techniques throughout the complete course.

Pranayama will cover science of Pranayama, breathing mechanism and breath work, physiology of respiration, beginner’s and advance Pranayama techniques, teaching methods, etc.

Meditation will cover introduction, neurophysiology of meditation, meditation in hatha yoga and tantra, chakra and yoga nidra, mantra meditation, OM and Gayatri mantra in detail, obstacles in meditation, mudras and asanas used in meditation, teaching meditation, etc.

Philosophy lectures will cover the following:

  • Introduction to Indian Philosophy
  • Vedic period and the four Vedas
  • Upanishads -an overview
  • Darshanas The six Indian philosophical systems
  • Bhagavad Gita: Karma yoga, Jnana Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Karma Sanyasa, Moksha Sanyasa, Gunatraya and Shradhatraya
  • Anatomy and physiology foundations
  • Body planes and movements
  • The skeletal system
  • The muscular system
  • Spine conditions
  • Musculoskeletal disorders
  • The nervous system
  • Emotional Disorders

During the in-person course, we will have open and interactive philosophy classes where you are free to ask questions related to spirituality, meditation or any other enquiry related to the content learned in the pre-recorded classes.

All these topics are studied in the online course using pre-recorded lectures, manual, exercises and review questions. During the in-person anatomy workshops, you will clarify doubts with your teacher, work with classmates, and practice to understand the anatomical principles of asanas.
