Yoga Teacher Training in Ashtanga Vinyasa flow
(200 hr Yoga Alliance)
Dharamsala at the foothills of Himalaya, North India

2015 Summer Dates for 200 hr TTCs : To be announced…

Sampoorna Yoga conducts its 200 hr Yoga Teacher Training courses at a beautiful family run guest house in ‘Bhagsu’ village in upper Dharamsala at the foothills of the Himalayas in Himachal Pradesh,North India, during summer months.

Dharamsala is a beautiful town in the north Indian state of Himachal Pradesh settled against the backdrop of the Himalayan mountain range with snow laden peaks. Dharamsala town is divided into two parts–upper and lower. Lower Dharamasala is mainly populated by Indians. Upper Dharamsala is a cluster of three small villages and towns called Mcleodganj, Bhagsunag and Dharamkot. Mcleodganj is the abode of the Honorable Dalai Lama and the Tibetan Government in exile. Several thousand Tibetan exiles have now settled in this area where they have built monasteries, temples and schools etc. Bhagsu village is a small quiet village located 2 KMs up from Mcleodganj.

The area is a unique blend of Tibetan culture thriving alongside traditional Indian culture with noticeable influence from the former British colonial lifestyle, making it a popular destination for both Indian and foreign tourists. The name Dharamsala itself gives an indication of the warmth and hospitality of locals and the reception that travelers will receive in the area. In common Hindi usage, the word Dharamsala refers to a shelter or rest house run on donation basis for spiritual pilgrims. One will find an abundance of guest houses in the area, as spiritual seekers, trekkers, pilgrims, and students alike flock to this area for study, solitude, and self-discovery.

Our yoga school is located in Upper Bhagsu, 2 kms from McLeodganj in upper Dharamsala. It is close enough to the markets, eateries, and bustles of Mcleodganj, but is far enough to offer students respite and a focused learning environment close to nature and away from the distractions of the city. Most of the area is inaccessible to vehicles and everything is connected by forest trails and steep, stone pathways leading up the hillside, making it a peaceful place. Bhagsu is a place of learning and exploration, with a multitude of courses in various fields of alternative medicines, self-development and healing. Close by in the village Dharamkot there is also an international Vipassana Meditation Center as well as the Tushita Meditation Center which is a center for the study and practice of Buddhism.

The quiet and unique location of our yoga school makes it a place of solitude and sanctity amidst natural surroundings–a place of community and comfort for those residing and practicing yoga here. The guest house is situated on the mountainside with a view of the majestic Himalayan mountains behind and a panorama of the beautiful valley below. There are no disturbances or distractions here, as the closest surrounding guest houses are almost 50-100mtrs away. Because of its unique location away from any city noises, traffic, markets, and vendors, it is always very quiet and peaceful—the only sounds are those of mountain streams, wind passing through pine trees, those performing early morning rituals and devotions, and chirping birds. It is a true sanctuary perfect for the study and practice of yoga. For those desiring more activity and stimulation, you can reach the main market area and the hang out places in Bhagsu in just ten minutes walk downhill.
